How to use it
Set your MOTD in four steps.
1. Design
Write two lines and click colors or styles to add codes like &6 (gold) or &l (bold).
2. Copy
Copy the motd= line. It uses \u00A7 codes, the format server.properties needs.
3. Paste
In the panel, open Files → server.properties and replace the motd= line. Save.
4. Restart
Restart the server and refresh your multiplayer list to see the new message.

What is a Minecraft MOTD?
MOTD means “message of the day”: the two lines of text under your server name in the multiplayer list. It is the first thing players see, so it is your server’s ad.
Why do I see weird characters instead of colors?
server.properties needs the section sign written as \u00A7. Copy the server.properties version from this tool and it works.
Can I use hex or gradient colors?
Not in server.properties. On Paper, MOTD plugins like MiniMOTD support hex colors and gradients. Use the plugin format from this tool as a start.
How long can my MOTD be?
Two lines. About 45 characters per line fit in the list; longer text gets cut off.
