Plugins work on Paper, Purpur and Spigot servers. They don’t work on Fabric or Forge (those use mods).
Install a plugin
- Download the plugin
.jarfor your Minecraft version from a trusted site: Hangar, Modrinth or SpigotMC. - In the panel, open Files and go into the
pluginsfolder. - Click Upload and pick the
.jarfile. - Restart the server.
- Type
pluginsin the console. Your plugin should be listed in green.
Configure it
After the first start, most plugins create a folder with the same name inside plugins, with a config.yml. Edit it in the panel, save, and restart the server (or use the plugin’s reload command).
Good plugins to start with
- EssentialsX: homes, warps, kits and basic commands
- LuckPerms: ranks and permissions
- WorldEdit: build big things fast
- CoreProtect: see and undo griefing
- Geyser: let Bedrock players join, see the Geyser guide
A plugin shows in red or the server crashes? Check that it matches your Minecraft version, and remove plugins you just added one by one to find the culprit.
